Israeli President Isaac Herzog arrived in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, for the seventh summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA). Herzog will address the summit and meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The Office of the President of Israel announced that Herzog will address the general session of CICA. Herzog is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with leaders attending the conference.

Strategic cooperation on the agenda in Baku
Herzog and Aliyev will discuss ways to deepen strategic cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations between Israel and Azerbaijan. The CICA summit aims to develop cooperation and relations among Asian countries.
Herzog is expected to conclude his Baku program with a meeting with leaders of Azerbaijan’s Jewish community.
The course of Israel-Azerbaijan relations
Diplomatic relations between Israel and Azerbaijan have continued since 1992. Cooperation between the two countries covers energy, trade, defense and security.

Approximately 30 years after diplomatic relations were established, Azerbaijan opened an embassy in Tel Aviv in March 2023.
In January, Ilham Aliyev met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar in Baku to discuss the development of bilateral relations.
