Libya's Government of National Unity Interior Minister Emad al-Trabelsi and Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, who met in Tripoli, agreed to strengthen security coordination and develop joint cooperation between the two countries.
According to a statement by Libya's Interior Ministry, the meeting at al-Trabelsi's office addressed areas of cooperation serving common interests. The parties agreed to establish a joint committee between Libya and Palestine.
The meeting also resulted in a decision for Libya to appoint a non-resident ambassador to Palestine.
Al-Trabelsi said Libya's position on the Palestinian issue had not changed. The minister said Libya stood with the Palestinian people and supported their legitimate right to their own land and their right to establish a state.
Shahin's contacts in Libya
Before Tuesday's meeting, Palestinian Minister Shahin met on Sunday with Mohamed al-Menfi, president of Libya's Presidential Council, to discuss developments in the Middle East.

On the same day, Shahin also met with Libya's Government of National Unity Foreign Minister Taher al-Baour to discuss developments in the Palestinian territories, as well as the humanitarian and political situation in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem.
Rising attacks in Gaza and the West Bank
The meetings took place as Israeli attacks in Gaza, which began on October 8, 2023, were reported to be continuing in various forms, while attacks targeting Palestinians and their property increased in the West Bank.
