An attack on a Turkish fishing boat off the coast of Sevastopol, west of the Crimean Peninsula in the Black Sea, resulted in one death and several injuries.
The Turkish Coast Guard Command announced that the boat named DORU 67 was targeted, and the vessel was severely damaged and sank following the attack.
After the attack, another nearby fishing boat rescued five injured people who had fallen into the sea. One of the injured died from severe wounds while en route to İnebolu Port.
A Coast Guard ship was also dispatched to the scene with expert medical and rescue teams. The teams reached the rescue boat in open waters and took custody of the injured and the deceased.
Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war, attacks on maritime transport and commercial vessels in the region have occasionally been reported. This recent incident in the Black Sea highlights the ongoing risks in the area once again.
