Iranian President Masoud Pezeşkiyan praised Qatar's role in reducing tensions and establishing the conditions for an agreement during a phone call with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
According to a statement released by the Iranian Presidency, Pezeşkiyan emphasized that regional cooperation and solidarity are crucial in overcoming current challenges. He stated that Iran consistently supports stronger brotherly relations with Islamic countries and the development of political, economic, and cultural ties among Muslim communities.
Pezeşkiyan also noted that friendly and neighboring countries contributed to the agreement process, expressing that without the sincere efforts and support of Qatar, Pakistan, and other Islamic countries, it would have been difficult to establish the necessary groundwork. He expressed hope that this dialogue and cooperation would bring lasting peace and stability to the region.
The Iranian leader said he expects the emerging new atmosphere to strengthen relations between Iran, Qatar, and other regional countries, while also enhancing unity, solidarity, and harmony among Islamic nations.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani welcomed the ceasefire agreement and emphasized the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in reducing tensions. He noted that Qatar has actively worked to strengthen relations with Iran and bring their views closer since Pezeşkiyan took office.
The Emir of Qatar described the relations between Tehran and Doha as strong, strategic, and based on shared interests. He stated that the current conditions present an important opportunity to deepen cooperation and expand strategic ties between the two countries.
Sheikh Tamim also expressed hope that the parties will adhere to their obligations under the agreement. He said that despite opposition from groups against regional peace and stability, the Iranian people stand with their leaders and desire a more hopeful, development-focused future.
He added that Qatar will continue its efforts to support constructive initiatives, contribute to regional stability, and help achieve a lasting agreement that serves the interests of all parties.
