Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri stated that Hezbollah will maintain the ceasefire only if Israel fully and completely adheres to it. Berri emphasized that Lebanon's position is shaped within this framework.
Berri's statement came at a time when Israel continues its attacks and is reluctant to withdraw from the occupied areas in southern Lebanon. It was recalled that the agreed text between the parties envisages an immediate and permanent cessation of armed activities on all fronts.
The text also highlights the commitment to guarantee Lebanon's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as the permanent end of the war on all fronts. Berri said Hezbollah's adherence to the ceasefire should be understood within this context.
Berri added that this stance aims to facilitate negotiations between Iran and the United States. He particularly drew attention to the first article of the agreement, noting that developments are linked to regional talks.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump had also stated that a full ceasefire was expected on all fronts, including Lebanon, following the implementation of the agreement. This statement indicates that recent developments affect not only the Lebanese arena but also the broader regional process.
Meanwhile, at a meeting planned tomorrow in Bürgstock, Switzerland, representatives from the U.S. and Iran, along with mediators from Pakistan and Qatar and other relevant countries, are expected to participate. The meeting will address the initial topics related to the implementation of the agreement between Washington and Tehran.
