Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington to meet with US President Donald Trump drew protests in the capital. Pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered near the White House to protest Netanyahu's arrival and US policies toward Israel.
The crowd, waving Palestinian flags, carried various banners targeting US-Israel relations. The banners read:
- "Stop the US/Israel war machine"
- "Expose Israel's control over Washington"
- "Palestinian human rights matter too"
Netanyahu had departed for Washington from the Nevatim Airbase in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba without prior announcement of his flight time for security reasons. The Israeli prime minister is expected to meet with Trump later in the day.
