Four people were detained in Spain in operations against the terrorist organization ISIS. Spain's National Police carried out simultaneous raids in the cities of Toledo, Madrid, Barcelona and Ceuta on July 6.
According to the police statement, the four suspects had radicalized under the influence of ISIS's violent ideology and had made global calls for violence through social media platforms. The suspects also shared propaganda and training materials belonging to the terrorist organization.
The detainees will be brought before a court on charges of terrorist propaganda and inciting violence. Documents obtained during the operations revealed that one of the detained women planned to travel to conflict zones in the Middle East via Turkey. Police determined that this suspect had purchased a plane ticket to Turkey to carry out her plan.
Following this development, Spain's National Police carried out the nationwide operations earlier than planned, on July 6.
