Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held a phone call with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Tuesday. The two leaders discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and regional issues.
During the call, Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi ships and their threats to freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. Sanchez stated that Spain fully supports all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its security, sovereignty, and interests.
These statements came after the Houthis declared a 'naval blockade' against Saudi Arabia a few days ago. The group claims these actions are in retaliation for Riyadh's blockade on the areas it controls in Yemen.

The Houthis claimed on Tuesday evening that they fired a ballistic missile at a Saudi oil tanker and forced the vessel to retreat. The same group also alleged on Monday that they targeted crude oil supply and shipping points in Saudi Arabia with drones. These claims have not been verified by independent sources.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen carried out airstrikes on Houthi positions in the western Yemeni city of Hodeidah and Kamaran Island for the first time since 2022. While Saudi Arabia supports the Yemeni government, Riyadh and its allies accuse Iran of providing military support to the Houthis.
