According to Haaretz newspaper, the person detained on charges of spying for Iran is 21-year-old Eli Loven, an Israeli citizen residing in Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Prosecutor's Office, which operates under the Israeli administration, announced that the indictment includes charges such as contacting a foreign agent and passing information to the enemy.
The statement alleged that Loven was in contact with individuals acting on behalf of Iranian intelligence in late 2025 and early 2026, and that he carried out a series of "missions" under the direction of those individuals.
A note reading "Mission completed" was found. According to the statement, Loven, who is accused of spying for Iran, took photographs of the Jerusalem Bus Terminal and gathered information about a building in East Jerusalem. It also claimed he left a cigarette box containing the note at a shopping center.
