A major revival in Syria's tourism sector is being interpreted as a sign of a quest for stability in the region. According to figures released by the Statistical Office of the Syrian Ministry of Tourism, the number of tourists visiting the country reached 3.52 million in the January-June 2026 period.
This figure represents a 111 percent increase compared to the 1.67 million tourists recorded in the same period of 2025. The ministry statement noted that the increase in tourist numbers from various countries around the world was 448 percent, while the increase from Arab countries was 107 percent.
Ministry officials emphasized that these high growth rates indicate that confidence in Syria is strengthening and that regional and international interest in visiting the country is growing.
