Kathimerini, one of Greece's leading newspapers, reported that developments in defense cooperation between Turkey and Egypt have caused concern in Athens.
Defense industry cooperation agreement
According to the newspaper's report, Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries, held a meeting with Egypt's Minister of Defense and Military Production, Lieutenant General Eşref Salim Zahir, on July 13.
During the meeting, a letter of intent was signed to determine the framework of defense industry cooperation between the two countries.
Kathimerini also wrote that Egypt aims to become a production center for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are among the most exported products of the Turkish defense industry.

Joint exercises and Libya agreement
The report stated that Turkey and Egypt conducted joint training exercises with air, naval, and land forces. It also highlighted the importance of a quadrilateral meeting held in Egypt with the participation of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.
The report added that at this meeting, Turkey and Egypt reached an agreement on many issues regarding Libya.
The Greek newspaper assessed that the rapprochement between the two countries does not currently pose a direct threat to Greece's interests, but is a factor that increases concern due to the shifts in the geopolitical balance in the region.
