Turkey’s Foreign Ministry has launched a new recruitment process for those seeking to build a career in the diplomatic service.
Under the official announcement for the 2026 admission exam for candidates applying for consular and specialized officer positions (KİM), the ministry plans to appoint up to 80 people across various categories.
One of the key features of the recruitment process is that applicants are not required to submit a score from the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).
However, the absence of a KPSS requirement does not mean that recruitment will take place without examinations. Applicants must meet the specified educational, foreign-language and other requirements, as well as successfully complete the stages of the admission exam organized by the Foreign Ministry.
Applications remain open until September 17
Applications opened on August 18 and will remain open until 12:00 p.m. on September 17, 2026.
Applications must be submitted electronically through Turkey’s e-Devlet government portal and the government’s Kariyer Kapısı employment platform, using the Foreign Ministry’s recruitment service.
Applications submitted through any method other than those specified in the official announcement will not be accepted.
Who can apply?
Applicants must be Turkish citizens and must not have turned 35 as of January 1, 2026. Accordingly, people born on or after January 1, 1991, meet the age requirement.
Educational qualifications and foreign-language proficiency requirements vary according to the category for which a candidate applies.
The recruitment announcement covers a wide range of foreign languages, including English, German, Arabic, French, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Persian and Hebrew.
Applicants must also demonstrate the required level of foreign-language proficiency in accordance with the conditions set for each category.
Written exam to be held in Ankara on October 3
The written stage of the admission exam is scheduled to take place in Ankara on October 3, 2026.
The exam will assess candidates through tests covering writing or specialized knowledge in the foreign language, translation from Turkish into the relevant foreign language, and writing or specialized knowledge in Turkish.
Candidates who pass the written stage will undergo additional assessments, including a personality test and analytical and reasoning ability tests, before proceeding to the oral examination.
A career in the diplomatic service
Consular and specialized officers are part of the diplomatic career track at Turkey’s Foreign Ministry and may work either at the ministry’s headquarters or at Turkish diplomatic missions abroad.
Their duties may include consular and protocol affairs, economic and cultural relations, public diplomacy, administrative and financial affairs, electronic consular services, information technology and other specialized fields.
Turkey’s Foreign Ministry defines consular and specialized officers as diplomatic-service personnel who also perform representative duties on behalf of Turkey.
Those wishing to apply are advised to carefully review the educational, foreign-language and category requirements before submitting their applications.
