The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the missile and drone attacks carried out by Iran against Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan. In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said these attacks pose a direct threat to the security and stability of the region.
The statement stressed full solidarity with Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, and expressed support for all measures taken by these countries to protect their sovereignty and territorial integrity. The attacks were described as hostile acts that violate the sovereignty of the targeted countries.
The General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force announced that air defense units successfully neutralized a large number of Iranian missiles and drones that targeted civilian areas. The statement said the armed forces are at the highest level of operational readiness and warned the public not to approach any missile or drone debris.
An official military source in Jordan, meanwhile, said the country's air defense systems and Royal Air Force jets shot down seven Iranian missiles and six drones that entered its airspace.
Meanwhile, Oman has launched diplomatic talks with Iran aimed at regulating maritime traffic in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. According to a CNN report citing a source, the Omani delegation proposed to Tehran to manage ship traffic through two separate sea corridors and presented a draft agreement.
The official Oman News Agency confirmed that Muscat and Tehran agreed to continue technical and political talks on a memorandum of understanding that would regulate shipping traffic in the strait in accordance with international law.
This diplomatic initiative comes at a time when military tensions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to affect one of the world's most important energy corridors. Tensions in the strait, through which roughly 20% of global oil supply passes, are driving up fuel prices, increasing financial pressure on consumers in the United States.
Recent developments paint a picture of increased military measures and simultaneous diplomatic efforts in the Gulf region.
