Following the attacks on the Abu Zuhur military airfield in Idlib, Claudio Kordoni, deputy UN special envoy for Syria, said Israel's actions against Syria represented “a worrying escalation.”
Kordoni called for respect for Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Saying that developments in Syria should be addressed through diplomatic channels, Kordoni called for compliance with the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement and the United Nations Security Council resolutions related to the agreement.

Syria sends two letters to the UN
On Tuesday evening, Syria sent two letters with identical content to the United Nations and the United Nations Security Council. The letters said that Israel's continued bombing, incursions into the country and abductions were undermining efforts to achieve stability and exposing the region to the risk of greater tensions.
The Syrian administration called on Israel to immediately halt its attacks and comply with the 1974 Agreement on Disengagement. The Damascus administration also renewed its call for Israel to fully withdraw from the areas it entered after December 8, 2024, and from the occupied Syrian Golan.
