The US plans to initiate technical talks with Iran at the earliest possible time. The White House stated that this goal remains unchanged despite the cancellation of Vice President JD Vance's trip to Switzerland.
Vance had confirmed on Thursday that he would lead the American delegation in talks with Iran. He mentioned that the delegation was scheduled to travel to Switzerland over the weekend, but the departure time from the US depended on when the Tehran representatives arrived there.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the initial plans for a signing ceremony in Switzerland, said the agreement had already been signed by the presidents of both countries and that an additional ceremony was unnecessary. However, the ministry also conveyed that Iran plans to participate in talks with the US.
Iran and the US signed a remote agreement on the night of June 18. It was noted that this agreement aims to end the military conflict that began on February 28.
Although there is still uncertainty regarding the schedule of talks and the order in which delegations will proceed to the field, the Washington side is sending the message that technical contacts should begin without delay. Tehran, on the other hand, treats the signing and meeting processes as separate matters.
