Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Baku on the sidelines of the 7th CICA Summit, which Wang is attending as Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special representative.
According to China’s Foreign Ministry, Wang said Israel should “stop and reverse its forced establishment of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank,” adding that China has consistently viewed the Palestinian question as “the greatest historical injustice of this century.”

Call to open Gaza crossings
Reaffirming support for a two-state solution, Wang called for the full opening of access routes into Gaza to avert a humanitarian catastrophe and said China stands ready to work with the international community to bring all parties back to dialogue and negotiations.
Herzog reaffirmed Israel’s adherence to the one-China policy and its interest in expanding ties, saying Israel faces security threats that require a strong response. Turkish and Arab delegations had walked out of the summit hall during Herzog’s speech.
Wang also said China was ready to develop bilateral cooperation with Israel, noting that 2027 will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 10th anniversary of their innovative comprehensive partnership.
