Israeli military attacks on southern Lebanon have continued despite the ceasefire extended by 45 days as of May 17 and the US-Iran agreement. The city of Nabatieh and many surrounding towns were targeted throughout the night with airstrikes and artillery fire.
According to Lebanon's official news agency NNA, Israeli warplanes struck Nabatieh, Kafr Cuz, Kafr Tebnit, Upper Nabatieh, Harouf, Sharqiya, Dweir, Kuseibeh, Kafr Djal, Adshit, Toul, and Jibshit. Rising Death Toll in Nabatieh and Surroundings

Three people were killed in an airstrike on the town of Kafsir. Additionally, one person died when a motorcycle near Dweir was targeted by an Israeli drone.
Israeli Military Confirms Attacks
The Israeli military stated that its warplanes continue to target southern Lebanon with airstrikes. The statement claimed that the attacks targeted Hezbollah infrastructure and personnel.
It was also reported that under the negotiation process mediated by Pakistan between Iran and the US, a 14-point agreement was reached on June 14 to halt the war and resolve issues through talks. This agreement was digitally signed and came into effect on June 18. The text includes provisions for ending the war including in Lebanon, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting the US naval blockade on Iran.
Attacks Persist Despite Ceasefire Talks
The Israeli military launched intense airstrikes on Lebanon on March 2 and occupied many towns in the south. The Lebanese government announced that over one million people were displaced during this period.
On April 24, US President Donald Trump announced that the 10-day temporary ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, which took effect on April 17, was extended for another three weeks. Following the third round of US-mediated talks on May 14-15, the ceasefire was further extended by 45 days starting May 17.
In its latest statement, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 3,912 people have died in Israeli attacks on the country since March 2. The US State Department announced after the fourth round of talks on June 3 that Israel and Lebanon had agreed on a broad ceasefire, conditional on Hezbollah completely stopping attacks and withdrawing all forces south of the Litani River. Hezbollah rejected this conditional ceasefire.
Despite all these agreements and extensions, the continuation of attacks has further worsened the security situation in southern Lebanon.
