A school in the city of Najran in southern Saudi Arabia was damaged after being hit by munitions launched by the Houthis. Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense spokesperson announced that the incident occurred on Friday and caused material damage.
Teams in Najran implemented the procedures used in such situations after the incident.
Missiles heading toward Khamis Mushait were intercepted
The incident at the school occurred as the Houthis were targeting Saudi Arabia’s southern regions. The group in Yemen had previously also targeted the city of Khamis Mushait, near Najran.

The coalition supporting Yemen’s legitimate government announced on Friday that three ballistic missiles launched toward Khamis Mushait had been intercepted and destroyed. It also announced that another ballistic missile launched toward the city that day had been intercepted.
Houthi actions against Saudi Arabia
The Houthis had announced on July 20 that they would impose a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia. The group justified the decision as a response to what it described as a Saudi naval and air blockade imposed on areas under its control in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia has led the coalition supporting Yemen’s government since March 2015. The Houthis have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and some provinces since September 2014 and are accused of receiving support from Iran.
The Houthis had previously also targeted Saudi vessels and energy production facilities in the country, causing civilian injuries and material damage.
