Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed that Saudi F-15 fighter jets had targeted Yemen’s Taiz, Marib and Hajjah governorates in the past 24 hours, carrying out 40 airstrikes.
In a statement posted on his X account, Saree said the aircraft had taken off from the Khamis Mushait Air Base in Saudi Arabia.
He claimed an F-15 was shot down over Marib
In an earlier statement, Yahya Saree claimed that a Saudi F-15 fighter jet had been shot down over Marib governorate with a locally manufactured surface-to-air missile.
According to Saree’s claim, other F-15 and Typhoon fighter jets that arrived in the area to search for the aircraft’s wreckage were also targeted by locally manufactured missiles and were forced to leave the area.
He said attacks on seven governorates exceeded 450
The Houthi military spokesman claimed that Saudi F-15 and Typhoon aircraft had carried out more than 450 airstrikes over Yemen’s Taiz, Lahij, Al Jawf, Hajjah, Marib, Saada and Al Bayda governorates in the past week.
Saree also said Yemen’s airspace would be closed to all violations and attacks.
He rejected claims that Mecca had been targeted
Yahya Saree said claims that the Houthis had carried out an attack on Mecca were untrue. Saree said that only oil facilities and military bases had been targeted in attacks against Saudi Arabia, adding that they followed a strategy that excluded attacks on holy sites.
