As tensions continue along the Red Sea route, a tanker was struck by munitions of unknown origin approximately 117 kilometers west of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. All crew members were safe after a fire broke out on the vessel’s main deck.
In a statement on the incident, UKMTO said that all crew members on board were safe. It also said that no environmental pollution or fuel spill had been reported.
Houthis accuse Saudi Arabia
On July 13, an airstrike was carried out on the runway at the airport in Yemen’s Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa, to prevent a plane arriving from Iran. The Houthis held Saudi Arabia responsible for the strike.
The Houthis later announced that they had attacked Abha Airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia. The group also said it had closed the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb to the passage of Saudi ships.
