Türkiye sent 2,000 tons of flour through AFAD to help meet the basic food needs of Palestinian refugees and displaced families in Lebanon. The aid was delivered at a ceremony held at the Port of Beirut.
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Beirut Murat Lütem, Bassam Nabulsi, secretary-general of Lebanon’s Higher Relief Committee, and Dorothea Klaus, director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Lebanon, attended the ceremony.
Flour to be distributed to Palestinian refugees and displaced families
The flour sent by AFAD will be distributed to Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and families forced to leave their homes because of Israeli attacks. The aid is expected to help meet basic food needs and ease the families’ financial burden.
Dorothea Klaus, UNRWA’s director in Lebanon, said the aid would enable Palestinian refugees and displaced people affected by the economic consequences of the conflict in Lebanon to access flour and bread.

Türkiye continues its support for Lebanon
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Beirut Murat Lütem said Türkiye was continuing to provide aid to people in need in Lebanon. Lütem said Türkiye had recently provided medicine to Lebanon and contributed to sheltering families forced to leave their homes because of Israeli attacks.
Lütem said Türkiye had also sent tents, food, clothing and other humanitarian supplies to Lebanon, adding that the total volume of aid provided over the past two and a half years had exceeded 4,000 tons.
Lütem said approximately 300,000 Lebanese people were still unable to return to their homes because of the destruction caused by the attacks. Lütem said Türkiye’s support would continue, adding, “Our solidarity with Lebanon will continue.”
Lebanese officials thank Türkiye
Bassam Nabulsi, secretary-general of Lebanon’s Higher Relief Committee, said the flour aid continued the support Türkiye had provided to Lebanon for years through state institutions and humanitarian organizations.
Nabulsi said Turkish institutions had supported Lebanon during times of crisis and stressed the importance they attached to cooperation with Türkiye. Describing Türkiye and UNRWA as Lebanon’s two key partners in meeting its humanitarian needs, Nabulsi said the flour aid demonstrated solidarity, friendship and humanitarian partnership.
Dorothea Klaus, UNRWA’s director in Lebanon, also thanked Türkiye and AFAD.
