Angelina Jolie has drawn attention to three locations in Gaza using Google Earth: the surroundings of Rafah’s Al-Qadisiyah School and the city of Khan Yunis, compared between 2022 and 2026, and Gaza City’s Omar Mukhtar Street, compared between 2023 and 2026.

Drawing on UN satellite analysis, the former UN Special Envoy said 82% of all structures in Gaza had sustained damage by June 16, 2026, with about two-thirds of them assessed as destroyed. With winter approaching, 1.98 million people — 94% of the population — need help with shelter and essential items, she said, while aid and shelter materials still face “restrictions and delays.”

“The destruction is visible. The needs are known. What matters now is whether they are met,” Jolie wrote, calling for hospitals to receive medical supplies and for aid to reach civilians at the scale required. Anadolu Agency noted that she put the number of people currently displaced at nearly 2 million.
