As tensions between Washington and Tehran rise over control of the Strait of Hormuz, CENTCOM said the strait is controlled by US forces and regional partners.
In a statement, CENTCOM said the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps does not possess a naval force capable of controlling the strait.
The statement also said US forces helped their Gulf partners transport more than 19 million barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.

Iranian official threatens US warships
An official from the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy threatened a day earlier to sink US warships if they approached the Strait of Hormuz.
The official said Iranian forces were counting down to a possible confrontation. The reciprocal statements over the Strait of Hormuz increased tensions in the region, which is critically important for maritime security and global oil shipments.
