Majid al-Nuzayli, the military spokesperson for the government-aligned forces, said in a statement on Saturday that the operations were concentrated in the areas of al-Aqrud, Samia, al-Ahkum, al-Akbus, Jabal Rasin, Jabal Jardad, Bani Omar, Bani Bakari, al-Kaawush and al-Asawir.

Al-Nuzayli said some Houthi transport and support vehicles were destroyed in the operations, Houthi elements were put out of action and their ability to continue the fighting was weakened. The statement did not give the number of elements said to have been put out of action.

The Yemeni spokesperson said government-aligned forces were continuing to carry out their duties resolutely and that Taiz would continue to resist the Houthis. The Houthis have not yet issued a statement on the operations.
Civilians also wounded in Taiz
Military tensions have risen in Taiz, where the operations were carried out, in recent days. Six civilians, including two children and a woman, were wounded in an artillery attack by the Houthis on residential areas in central Taiz on Friday.

Yemen’s army announced that heavy clashes with the Houthis took place on the northern front of Taiz the same day. The army also said numerous attacks had been carried out against Houthi movements, reinforcement units, gathering points and positions in various parts of the governorate.
Yemen’s Interior Ministry also announced on Friday that Mohammed al-Hulani, chief of staff of the ministry’s Rapid Intervention Forces, was killed during clashes on the al-Kadha front in Taiz.
The escalation in Taiz is considered part of a process that began in July and has been described as the most extensive escalation in the area, following a period of relative calm after the ceasefire that began in April 2022.
