Egyptian journalist Mohamed Al-Qaoud reported that Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, a player for Turkish club Trabzonspor, would receive Türkiye citizenship along with his wife and three sons. He also reported that Salah would be awarded the “State Medal for Distinguished Service” at a major ceremony in recognition of his impact on sports and tourism.
However, a source inside Trabzonspor told Masrawy that “there has been no official contact with Salah from Turkish officials regarding his obtaining Türkiye citizenship.” The source explained that the club’s management had only informed the player that he would meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the coming period, without setting a final date.

No official confirmation has yet been issued by Turkish authorities or Trabzonspor regarding the citizenship or the medal.
The reports about Salah come as Trabzonspor sit third in the Turkish Super Lig with 22 points, after beating Gaziantep 2-0 in the 10th round. The club are three points behind leaders Galatasaray.
