Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi reviewed regional and global developments and ties between Ankara and Tehran at the Turkish House in New York, on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly, Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry said.
The meeting was part of Fidan’s series of contacts in New York, which also included talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. It coincided with Iran’s push for a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a week.
Fidan visited Tehran in November 2025, where he and Araghchi held a joint news conference at Iran’s Foreign Ministry.
