The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) condemned the ballistic missile and drone attacks carried out by the Houthis on the Saudi Arabian cities of Riyadh and Khamis Mushait on Saturday.
GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi said the attacks constituted a clear violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty. Albudaiwi said the actions posed a direct threat to civilian safety and regional stability.
Albudaiwi reiterated the GCC’s support for Saudi Arabia and said the country had the right to take all necessary measures to protect its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The GCC secretary-general called on the international community to adopt a firm stance and hold the Houthis accountable for their actions.
The Saudi-led coalition also said it had intercepted two ballistic missiles and two drones that it said had been sent toward Saudi Arabia by the Houthis.
