The ship named Handala 2, which set sail from the Swedish city of Malmö on May 14, has begun its journey to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and break the blockade. Project representative Janet Escanilla stated that the vessel is sailing in international waters and that the main goal is to draw global attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The ship completed its tour of Swedish ports on June 15 and is currently heading toward Norwegian and Danish waters. Handala 2 will remain at a port in southern Denmark until the end of July, after which it will set sail to join the 'Global Resilience Fleet' in the Mediterranean in September.
Israel has previously intercepted similar humanitarian aid ships heading to Gaza and detained activists.
