Hundreds of people marched toward the parliament building in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, calling for an end to attacks on civilians in Gaza.
The crowd gathered in the Radmansgatan area following a call by civil society organizations and demanded the immediate cessation of what it described as war crimes against civilians in Gaza.

Protesters chant slogans in support of Palestine
Participants in the march carried banners reading "Free Palestine, Free Gaza," "Stop the genocide" and "Boycott Israel." During the protest, they chanted slogans including "Children are being killed in Gaza" and "Freedom for Palestine."
Carrying Palestinian flags, the protesters also alleged that the United States was complicit in war crimes in Gaza.
Activist Arslanagic speaks out for Palestine
Swedish activist and comedian Kerim Arslanagic said he joined the protest to support Palestine. He said the oppression, lack of food and inadequate infrastructure faced by Palestinians represented a major loss for humanity.
Arslanagic described the situation in Palestine as "an ongoing genocide and colonial project." Arguing that colonialism, which ended in Europe in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, continues in Palestine, Arslanagic said individuals and artists should use their platforms to pressure politicians.

Deaths and destruction in Gaza
Approximately 74,000 people have been killed and 175,000 injured in Israel's operation in Gaza following October 7, 2023. Much of the Gaza Strip has also been destroyed.
Although the ceasefire that took effect last October was in place, the attacks continued. The Gaza Health Ministry said more than 1,400 Palestinians were killed and about 5,000 people were injured during this period.
A commission of inquiry appointed by the United Nations concluded that Israel had committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
