IAEA chief: Nuclear inspections in Iran planned, schedule and procedures to be worked out
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said nuclear inspections in Iran will take place under the interim peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran, but talks with Tehran on details such as dates, procedures and locations are ongoing.
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said at a press conference in Japan that inspections at nuclear facilities in Iran are planned following the interim peace agreement signed between the U.S. and Iran, but the details of implementation have not yet been finalized.
"The inspections will indeed take place," Grossi said, adding that they will begin working with Tehran very soon on issues such as dates, procedures, and locations to visit.
The 14-point memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides last week agreed on general principles to end the war, and launched a 60-day negotiation process to resolve more complex issues related to Iran's nuclear program.
