Iran's Embassy in Qatar announced that it has not received any official information regarding the high-level negotiations allegedly taking place in Doha on Tuesday, as announced by US President Donald Trump. An official from the embassy said that no official briefing has been made so far and that preparations have not begun.
Trump claimed in a statement on Monday that Iran had requested a meeting with the US and that the meeting would take place on Tuesday in Doha, the capital of Qatar. White House Spokesperson Caroline Leavitt stated that the US would be represented by Trump's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
In contrast, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Garib-Abadi emphasized that no working group meeting with the US is planned this week. Garib-Abadi's statement refers to technical-level contacts regarding the implementation of the memorandum of understanding.
Iran and the US reached a memorandum of understanding with a remote signing ceremony on the night following June 18. The agreement, which aims to end the military conflict that began on February 28, also includes a timeline for the US to lift the naval blockade and for Iran to resume navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
