Iranian and Pakistani foreign ministers held a phone call to assess the regional situation following mutual military strikes between Tehran and Washington.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar exchanged views on recent regional events.
Pakistani Foreign Minister Dar called on the US and Iran to de-escalate tensions and adopt a restrained approach based on the understanding reached last June.
Dar stressed that dialogue and diplomacy are the only way to resolve disputes and achieve lasting peace and stability.
Dar stated that Pakistan is ready to continue its constructive role in strengthening and preserving regional peace and stability, and reiterated his country's commitment to this.
The call came after Iran's Revolutionary Guards announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic until further notice, citing 'security instability caused by foreign interference.'
