US military facilities in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates were targeted by dozens of explosive drones on Wednesday, according to a statement by the Iranian army.
The Iranian army’s Public Relations Department said the attacks were carried out as part of the "30th Phase of Operation Saeeqah." The statement said the operation began in the early hours of Wednesday and targeted radar systems at the Al Dhafra and Al Minhad air bases in the UAE, as well as sites where US forces were stationed.
Attack targeting Sheikh Isa Air Base
The Iranian army also said radar facilities and assembly points used by US forces at Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa Air Base were targeted again in large-scale attacks carried out with Arash-type explosive drones.
In an earlier announcement, the Iranian army said the attack on Sheikh Isa Air Base had been carried out as part of the "29th Phase of Operation Saeeqah." It said the attacks on the base had been conducted in the form of "intensive drone strikes."
Iranian army’s assessment of the bases
The Iranian army described Al Dhafra as a major US operational facility used for air operations, reconnaissance, surveillance and support activities.
It also said Sheikh Isa Air Base was used to repair and maintain helicopters and drone components and hosted reconnaissance aircraft.
