Palestinian agricultural caravans, a piece of heavy machinery and other property were set on fire on Sunday in the Wadi Juhayesh area of the southern West Bank. Israeli settlers carried out the attack in the area near the town of Yatta.
Mustafa Harizat, the owner of the property, said the caravans contained equipment belonging to the area, as well as an office, a refrigerator and various supplies. Harizat said the piece of heavy machinery that was set on fire belonged to one of his neighbors.
Harizat said the attackers wrote Hebrew slogans on the caravans and some walls in the area before setting them on fire.
Attacks have continued for months in Wadi Juhayesh
In repeated attacks in Wadi Juhayesh in recent months, the caravans were damaged, their windows were broken and security cameras were rendered unusable.
Mustafa Harizat said the attacks had been repeated every few days using different methods, and that the property was burned in the latest incident. Expressing concern that the attacks were intended to force Palestinians to leave their land, Harizat said, "This is our land, and we are here. We will not leave, and we will not give our land to them."
Settler attacks in the West Bank
Since the war in Gaza began on October 8, 2023, settler attacks and Israeli military operations have continued in the occupied West Bank. During the same period, the establishment of new settlement outposts, the opening of settlement roads and restrictions on Palestinians' movement have also increased.
In the area, incidents include the killing and detention of Palestinians, the demolition of homes and other structures, the burning of mosques and vehicles, the destruction of agricultural land, the theft of produce and the blocking of farmers' access to their fields.
According to official Palestinian figures, approximately 750,000 Israeli settlers live in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. The settlers live around 194 settlements and approximately 400 settlement outposts.
