An Iranian diplomat in the UN General Assembly hall refused even to look at Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon, who approached the Iranian delegation’s seats carrying a Starlink satellite internet terminal, and did not take the device.
Danon’s move on September 24 came after a speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had held up the same device at the podium and said, “The Iranian regime is especially afraid when their people have this.”
“Do you want to take it and deliver it back to Tehran? It can be very useful for you in Iran,” Danon told the diplomat in footage he released, adding: “And we pray for the regime change there.”
Netanyahu had offered in his speech to leave the device for Iranian diplomats who defect. Dozens of delegates walked out of the hall in protest as he began speaking.
