Iran's military said it carried out a drone strike on the Ahmed al-Jaber Air Base in Kuwait in response to the US attack that targeted civilians on Qeshm Island.
The military's Public Relations Office said in a statement that this strike was the 27th phase of 'Operation Sa'eqeh' and was in retaliation for recent US military actions, particularly the airstrike on a residence in Qeshm.
According to the statement, the drones targeted aircraft shelters, satellite communication systems, and equipment depots at the base. The Ahmed al-Jaber Base was described as a critical hub for US air operations and logistical support in the region.
Iran's military described the Qeshm attack as 'a clear violation of humanitarian principles and an example of the enemy's war crimes.' The statement, which said 'Crimes, sanctions, and threats will only make Iran more united in its sacred defense,' emphasized Iran's determination.
It was claimed that the 'decisive, comprehensive, and heavy' strikes carried out by the army and the Revolutionary Guards have made intercepting Iranian drones and missiles 'very costly and difficult' despite the US's advanced air defense systems.
It was also claimed that the Washington administration imposed strict censorship to prevent information about damage, casualties, and injuries at the base from reaching the public.
This retaliation by Iran came after a US airstrike on a residence on Qeshm Island on Thursday that killed a family. A local official had reported that the mother, father, and their 2-year-old son were killed in the attack, while two children were pulled alive from the rubble and taken to hospital. The father was said to be a taxi driver, and the neighborhood was described as a working-class area.
