In a phone call on Monday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran is not seeking war and is ready to continue diplomacy to end the current conflict with the US.
Pezeshkian appreciated the role played by regional countries, particularly Pakistan, Turkey and other Muslim states, in preparing the memorandum of understanding signed last week between Iran and the US to end US-Israeli aggression.
The Iranian President said that regional countries should seek to expand a potential peace agreement being worked on between Iran and the US, so that the Israeli regime's attacks on Lebanon and Palestine can be prevented.
Pezeshkian noted that trade and economic relations between Iran and Turkey have been affected by the recent US-Israeli aggression, and that Tehran is ready to form an intergovernmental committee to help expand economic ties between the two neighbors.
Erdogan's assessment
President Erdogan, for his part, praised Iran for adopting a sensible stance against those trying to sabotage the negotiations between the country and the US, particularly the 'genocidal Israeli regime'.
Erdogan said that Turkey has taken a just stance by rejecting the repeated intervention in recent months regarding the US-Israeli aggression against Iran.
The Turkish President also called for a swift return to dialogue in the region as a way to normalize and expand relations among Muslim countries in the region.
