Iran's chief of staff: We will avenge Khamenei's killing on US and Israel
Iran's chief of staff Emir Hatemi threatened revenge on the US and Israel, claiming former supreme leader Ali Khamenei was killed.
Iran's Chief of General Staff Emir Hatemi said his country would take revenge on the United States and Israel for the killing of former supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
Hatemi made the remarks to Iranian state television during the official funeral ceremony for Khamenei in the capital Tehran. Noting that this martyrdom increased their determination, Hatemi said, "The enemies of the Iranian people, the US and Israel, should know that we will avenge the martyred imam (Khamenei) and all our martyrs."
Khamenei is claimed to have been killed on February 28. The funeral ceremony began on Friday and is expected to last about a week. It was announced that his body will be buried in the city of Mashhad on July 9.
