The naval forces of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a harsh threat targeting US military bases in the region in a statement on Sunday. The statement said US bases 'will experience hell in the coming days,' while describing US attacks on Iran's coastal area of Sirik as 'blind and ineffective.'
The statement published by the IRGC naval command on social media said, 'America's blind fire at Sirik will not solve the puzzle of our dominance over the Strait of Hormuz. But our fire at the violators reminds the remaining ships of the passageway.'
The statement further emphasized that the situation of the US bases in the region is different, saying, 'They will experience hell in these days.'
Retaliation operation
This threat came after a night operation in which the IRGC struck eight US military targets at Ali al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the Fifth Fleet's Salman Port in Bahrain with ballistic missiles and drones. The IRGC announced that these attacks were carried out in retaliation for US strikes on five Iranian coastal outposts after Iranian forces intercepted a ship violating rules in the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC had previously warned that any violation of the ceasefire would halt the entire diplomatic process under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
