Iran's Revolutionary Guards harshly criticized the US military presence and interventions in the Strait of Hormuz, declaring that this would complicate the strait's reopening process. A written statement from the Revolutionary Guards' naval forces said: "The adventures of the terrorist US army and its intervention to dictate navigation routes will seriously complicate the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and greatly endanger the interests of countries that benefit from the strait."
The statement also noted that "foreign elements" have no right to be present or intervene in the region or the Strait of Hormuz.
The US has been carrying out attacks on Iran since yesterday, after Iran targeted ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, which is critical for global energy supplies. The Tehran administration, however, insists that any ship must coordinate with Iran before passing through the strait and demands that only the route it designates be used in Hormuz.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between Washington and Tehran on June 18, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, and negotiations had begun to reach a final agreement. However, the fate of these talks remains uncertain amid the current military conflict.
