Since the beginning of Israel's attacks on Gaza, its military spending has surged. Israeli army data shows that over a period of almost 2 years and 10 months, total military expenditure reached $91.6 billion.
Of this massive budget, $32.7 billion was directly allocated to payments for reservists. The reservists are actively deployed in operations in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran.
Before the attacks, Israel's annual defense budget averaged around $22.4 billion. In March 2026, an amendment reportedly raised this budget to $46.8 billion.
Reserve Service Extended
The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, at the government's request, decided to extend the service period of 240,000 reservists until September 30. According to The Times of Israel, the decision passed in the committee by a vote of 4 to 2.
The Israeli government has been regularly extending the service of reservists since the start of the Gaza attacks.
