Ceasefire process and violations
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the 10-day temporary ceasefire that took effect on April 17 was extended for another three weeks on April 24. Following the third round of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, mediated by the US on May 14-15, it was agreed to extend the ceasefire for 45 days starting from May 17.
The U.S. State Department announced on June 3 that a "comprehensive ceasefire" had been agreed between Israel and Lebanon following the fourth round of talks in Washington. The department stated that the agreement was conditional on Hezbollah completely halting its attacks and withdrawing all its forces south of the Litani River. Hezbollah, however, announced that it rejected the conditional ceasefire. Despite all these agreements, the Israeli army's attacks continue.
According to a claim in the Russian service of Anadolu Agency, Iran and the US reached a 14-point memorandum of understanding on June 14 as part of negotiations mediated by Pakistan. It was alleged that the text, called the Islamabad Agreement, was digitally signed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump. The claim states that the agreement includes provisions such as halting the clashes in Lebanon, opening the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting the U.S. naval blockade on Iran.
