Israeli forces carried out a series of raids in the rural areas of Daraa and Quneitra provinces in southern Syria on Friday evening. Soldiers entered and searched numerous homes, stopped and questioned passersby, and detained one person.
According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, the Israeli force consisting of 8 military vehicles and a tank moved from the Tel Abu al-Ghaysar point toward the Wadi al-Raqqad area on the Quneitra-Daraa administrative border. Then they entered the town of Jamlah in the western countryside of Daraa and deployed in its neighborhoods.
During the raid, Israeli drones flew over the area. Soldiers conducted searches and inspections in the homes.
Earlier the same day, another Israeli unit of 7 vehicles entered the village of Ma'riyya in the western countryside of Daraa. There, soldiers searched homes, stopped and questioned passersby before withdrawing from the area.
Another Israeli force of 4 military vehicles entered the village of Ayn Zivan in the southern countryside of Quneitra, raided a home and detained a resident for hours.
Two days before these developments, Israeli forces had erected an obstacle consisting of metal barriers and concrete blocks in agricultural lands about 300 meters from the ceasefire line with the occupied Golan Heights in the Quneitra countryside.
In recent months, Israeli violations on Syrian territory have increased markedly. Raids and searches of civilians' homes, roadblocks, detentions — practices targeting civilians including farmers and children — have become routine.
Following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime on December 8, 2024, Israel declared the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement null and took control of the buffer zone on the Syrian side.
