The Israeli army demolished a Palestinian home in the Umm Rukbe area of Al-Hidhir town in the occupied West Bank.
Israeli forces raided and surrounded the area. The demolished house was a single-story, inhabited structure of about 100 square meters, belonging to Palestinian Muhammad Ali Selim Musa.
The Israeli army stated it demolished the house on the claim that it was 'built without a permit'.
Long-Term Demolition Policy
The report highlighted that the Umm Rukbe area has long been subjected to Israeli practices such as demolitions, construction freezes, and demolition orders.
Palestinian authorities state that these practices aim to increase pressure on local residents, displace them from their lands, and pave the way for Jewish settlement activities.
Israel's 'Unlicensed' Construction Claim
The Israeli army frequently demolishes Palestinian-owned structures in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem on the grounds of being 'unlicensed'.
Israeli authorities impose severe restrictions on Palestinian construction and agricultural activities in the area designated as 'Area C', which constitutes 61 percent of the West Bank. Obtaining a 'permit' in these areas has been made nearly impossible for Palestinians.
Increased Pressure Since October 7
Since Israel launched its attack on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, there has been a marked increase in arrests, raids, and attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
