During an event in Tel Aviv ahead of the Israeli elections scheduled for October 27, an Israeli woman told the British newspaper The Guardian that Palestinians should be forcibly displaced from the Gaza Strip, saying they should be killed if they did not leave.
The woman, who spoke with an American accent, said: "I think it's very important to settle Gaza and annex it. I don't think this war will ever end unless we expel the Arabs from there. It is our land."
Religious justification for displacement
When the journalist noted that many viewers in Britain and outside Israel might be shocked by her remarks, she replied: "Israel is a Jewish state. We must take it because God commanded us to take it."
Asked where the Palestinians would go, she said: "Honestly, to any other Arab country. I don't care, except Jordan, Lebanon and Syria; they belong to us," then added: "Otherwise, we will kill them."
In a version of the clip published by Middle East Eye, the woman can also be heard calling for Palestinians to be "completely" carpet-bombed.
"Not a fringe view"
Trita Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute in the United States, commented on the clip, saying that people must stop pretending this is a fringe view in Israel. He added that Israel has been moving in this direction for a long time and that Western governments are fully aware of it but continue to finance and enable Israel's genocidal policies.
