Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi discussed efforts to reduce regional tensions and restore calm during a phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan.
According to Jordan's Foreign Ministry, the Thursday call addressed regional developments, as well as relations between the two countries and ways to advance cooperation in various fields.
Safadi again condemned the attacks targeting Saudi Arabia. He said Jordan stood in full solidarity with Riyadh in all steps aimed at protecting Saudi Arabia's security and stability, as well as the safety of citizens and residents in the country.
One person killed in Taif
Saudi authorities announced that one person was killed and two were injured by debris that fell while an unmanned aerial vehicle was being intercepted in the airspace over the city of Taif on Thursday.
The targeting of Taif occurred two days after Saudi air defenses announced that they had thwarted an attempt by Yemen's Houthis to target Mecca with an unmanned aerial vehicle.
Houthis announce naval blockade
The Houthis announced on July 20 that they had decided to impose a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia. The group said the decision was in response to its claim that Saudi Arabia was imposing a naval and air blockade on areas under its control in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia has led a coalition supporting Yemen's government against the Houthis since March 2015. The Houthis have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and some provinces since September 2014.
The Houthis have carried out attacks targeting Saudi-owned vessels, as well as various sites inside the country, including energy production facilities. Civilians were injured and property damage was reported in these attacks.
