Seventy containers of various types of ammunition were delivered at Beirut Port on Sunday as part of U.S. support for the Lebanese army.
The Lebanese Army Command announced that the delivery took place at the port but did not provide information about the types of ammunition in the containers.
The command said the shipment was part of the U.S. military assistance programs for the army. It said the support was particularly important because of the responsibilities the army is undertaking and the challenges it is facing at the present time.
U.S. assistance was said to be helping the army build its capacity for missions carried out in different parts of Lebanon.
Following the delivery, the plan discussed at an international preparatory meeting held in Paris on September 17 again came to the fore. A broad-based donors conference aimed at supporting the Lebanese army and internal security forces is planned for late 2026 or early 2027.
