Shabab Al Ahli, competing in the West Region of the AFC Champions League Elite, beat Al-Ittihad 2-1 on Tuesday at Al-Inma Stadium in Jeddah to move to 6 points.
The UAE side took control through early goals from Iranian footballer Sardar Azmoun. Azmoun opened the scoring in the seventh minute by sending Guilherme Bala’s pass into the net.
Shabab Al Ahli’s striker doubled the lead in the 16th minute. Receiving a pass from Kwan Santos behind the defense and finding himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, Azmoun rounded him to score his second goal and his team’s second.

Al-Ittihad’s pressure fails to change the result
Al-Ittihad increased its attacks later in the first half, while Shabab Al Ahli responded with quick counterattacks. Marcelo’s shot inside the penalty area went wide of the post. When his next attempt also failed to find the net, the visitors went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Al-Ittihad stepped up the pressure in the second half against Shabab Al Ahli, which sought to protect its lead with a defense-oriented approach. The Saudi Arabia side reduced the deficit to one in the 66th minute when Colombian Richard Rios scored with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area.
Al-Ittihad launched a series of attacks in the remaining minutes in search of an equalizer. However, Shabab Al Ahli’s defense denied those efforts, and the UAE side left the field with the victory.
Al-Ittihad remain 11th
With this result, Shabab Al Ahli moved to 6 points and joined the teams competing at the top of the West Region standings. Al-Ittihad remained on 1 point and stayed 11th in the standings.
