Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye condemned “in the strongest terms” the attempt to target Mecca and Medina and continued attacks on Saudi cities and facilities, and decided to immediately put joint defense commitments into practice, including providing and swiftly deploying agreed forces in the Kingdom. Pakistan and Türkiye praised the readiness of the Saudi armed forces.

Analysis: Middle East Eye said the announced “rapid deployment” of Turkish and Pakistani troops carries symbolic weight and could deepen the Houthis’ isolation. Pakistan already has tens of thousands of troops in the kingdom, and Reuters reported last week that Pakistan sent four plane loads of weapons to Aden to support the Saudi-backed government.
Qatar: Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari called the Mecca Agreement an important step for the region and very promising for its security, speaking at a panel at Georgetown University in Doha. He said channels of dialogue between the United States and Iran remained open and warned that the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz would affect the whole world.
