Multiple explosion sounds were heard Tuesday east of Bandar Abbas in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province, which opens onto the Strait of Hormuz.
More than five explosions were heard around Masan village on Qeshm Island. Four explosions were also heard on the same island in the direction of the Strait of Hormuz.
The deputy governor of Hormozgan province responsible for political, security and social affairs said no casualties had been recorded so far.
Tensions between Iran and the United States
The explosion sounds were heard as tensions between Tehran and Washington remained high. The tensions have continued since the war began with attacks on Iran at the end of February.
A framework agreement was signed in June through mediation by Pakistan and Qatar. The United States launched a two-week bombing campaign in July.
The United States also reinstated its naval blockade after disputes over navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
